Ezequiel Goldschmidt, MD, PhD, is the 2020-21 William P. Van Wagenen Fellow. He was awarded this prestigious award to pursue the research topic of “Recreating neuroplasticity via a cortico-cortico trans-pial bypass”.
Dr. Goldschmidt began his fellowship at the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden in July 2020 under the supervision and mentorship of Dr. Jens Hjerling-Leffler.
To date, Dr. Goldschmidt’s work has produced two papers. The first fellowship paper was published in Scientific Reports. Although the paper was started during Dr. Goldschmidt’s residency in Pittsburgh, the time at Karolinska Institutet, as well as the insight and advice from Dr. Hjerling-Leffler, was instrumental in getting the paper to the finish line.
The second paper, entitled “Brain folding shapes the branching pattern of the middle cerebral artery,” (Shalom DE, Trevisan MA, Mallela A,Nuñez M, Goldschmidt E (2021). PLoS ONE 16(1): e0245167.) has been published in the journal PLOS One.
The NREF congratulates Dr. Goldschmidt and looks forward to following the progress of his fellowship
