Early Career Traveling Fellowship

As a premier funder of neurosurgical studies, the Neurosurgery Research & Education Foundation (NREF) focuses on providing educational funding in basic neuroscience and neurosurgical programs in North America.

The Early Career Traveling Fellowship has been established to support short-term educational opportunities for residents, fellows, and early career neurosurgeons away from their home program.

Eligibility – This program is open to:

  • Residents (PGY-4 and above)
  • Fellows
  • Neurosurgeons in their first five (5) years of practice

Fellowship Details
These short-term fellowship can be one (1) week or up to one (1) month in duration. Applicants are responsible for selecting their fellowship destination and making all arrangements with the host institution.

To apply, individuals must submit the following documents:

  • Current CV
  • Proposal with description of experience sought at host institution
  • Letter of reference from current program
  • Letter of invitation from host institution
  • Budget outlining costs for the fellowship experience

Applications for funding may be submitted year-round and are open to all subspecialties. The NREF Fellowship Committee will review and evaluate applications, but award amounts will depend on available funding.
