2021-22 Resident Education Courses

Your safety is our priority! The NREF is committed to creating a safe and healthy environment for all our attendees, faculty, sponsors, NREF staff and the community.

NREF is following best practices recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and will abide by the legal mandates from the state where each course is held. Health and safety measures will be updated as planning for the 2021 courses continues.

In cooperation with the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), the Neurosurgery Education & Research Foundation (NREF) offers free courses to provide advanced resident and fellow educational training in topic areas not always covered within neurosurgical residency.

Thanks to our valued individual donors and corporate supporters, the NREF has funded over ninety (90) courses attended by more than 2,000 residents and fellows, with thousands more viewing presentations online.

Attendance at NREF Resident Education courses is by invitation only.

Residency program directors and residency coordinators are notified of these resident course opportunities approximately sixteen (16) weeks in advance of each course and are asked to nominate one resident and one alternate from their program to attend each course, based upon specified course criteria.

Watch Resident Education Online

While spaces at the NREF Resident Education Courses are limited, several courses are available online, free of charge, to neurosurgical residents around the world. Each program consists of several hours of didactic lectures based on the course topic.
