Honor Your Mentor - Awards

Honor Your Mentor (HYM) Funds recognize the incredible people who have advanced neurosurgery. Each mentor fund has a specific purpose, and donations fund a chosen research or educational endeavor in the mentor’s name.

HYM Funds support research, education and outcomes in a variety of subspecialties.

The following HYM funds have made awards to date:

  • The Warren C. Boop, Jr. Fund funded a University of Arkansas resident’s presentation to a meeting of the Southern Neurosurgical Society
  • The Ralph G. Dacey Fund was launched in summer 2017, and awarded $1,000 for the Dacey CV Research Lectureship at the annual CV section meeting
  • The Charles G. Drake Fund is supporting the CV Registry with NPA
  • The Stewart B. Dunsker Fund has awarded $15,000 to the University of Toronto
  • The Regis W. Haid, Jr. Fund is providing administration funds for the QOD Study for NPA’s Effectiveness of Fusion for Grade I Spondylolisthesis
  • The Charles Kuntz IV Fund supports resident travel to the Spine Section’s Annual Meeting
  • The Andrew T. Parsa Fund awarded the $50,000 Andrew T. Parsa Research Fellowship 2018-19 Research Fellowship Grant to Teddy Kim, MD, of Wake Forest University Health Sciences for his tumor research project titled, “VSV-LASV as oncolytic virus therapy for glioblastoma”
  • The Donald O. Quest Fund supports the Quest Research Awards at the AANS Annual Scientific Meeting
  • The Albert L. Rhoton, Jr. Fund awarded one $40,000 Young Clinician Investigator Award and two $2,500 Medical Student Summer Research Fellowships
