Residents: Further Your Neurosurgical Knowledge with AANS/NREF

The American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and the Neurosurgery Research & Education Foundation (NREF) are pleased to announce a resident course exchange with the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS).

Since 1970, the European Training Courses have traditionally provided neurosurgical education to residents through four-day courses that cover key topics.

The next resident course exchange will take place September 13-16, 2020, in Iasi, Romania. Selected applicants will join the cohort of EANS residents for this Spine Course only. AANS residents who will be PGY 4 and above at the time of the course are invited to submit an application by January 6, 2020.

Two (2) AANS residents will be selected to attend the Spine course. Decisions will be announced by February 28, 2020. Promising residents are encouraged to pursue this outstanding professional and networking opportunity.

The NREF congratulates Victoria Ann Schunemann, MD, Ohio State University Hospital, and Daniel A. Tonetti, MD, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, on being selected to attend the EANS Training Course focused on Vascular, May 10-13, 2020 at Lake Geneva-Evian, France.

In cooperation with the AANS, the NREF offers free Resident Education Courses to provide advanced training in topic areas not always covered within neurosurgical residency.

Over 2,000 residents and fellows have attended an NREF course, with thousands more viewing presentations online. Spaces are limited at the live courses, so several are available online, free of charge, to neurosurgical residents around the world.
