The NREF is dedicated to providing education to neurosurgeons, stimulating learning and enhancing continuing educational opportunities throughout their careers.
International Course Exchange: The American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and the NREF have partnered with the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS) on a resident course exchange.
Since 1970, the European Training Courses sponsored by EANS have provided neurosurgical education to residents through four-day courses that cover key topics.
The NREF congratulates the AANS residents selected to attend an EANS Training Course this year:
EANS Training Course: Tumor (Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina):
Abdullah H. Feroze, MD, Harborview Medical Center
Angela Richardson, MD, Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami
EANS Training Course: Vascular (Lake Geneva-Evian, France):
Victoria Ann Schunemann, MD, Ohio State University Hospital
Daniel A. Tonetti, MD, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center
EANS Training Course: Spine (Iasi, Romania):
Nitin Agarwal, MD, University of Pittsburgh Physicians
Timothy Wang, MD, Duke University
North American Resident/Fellow Courses: In cooperation with the AANS, the NREF offers free Resident Education Courses to provide advanced training in topic areas not always covered within neurosurgical residency.
Over 2,000 residents and fellows have attended an NREF course, with thousands more viewing presentations online. Spaces are limited at the live courses, so several are available online, free of charge, to neurosurgical residents around the world.
