The Young Neurosurgeons Circle of Giving is open to residents who demonstrate a commitment to advancing neurosurgery with a contribution of $500 or more.
Among other benefits, membership in the Young Neurosurgeons Circle includes an invitation to the NREF Donor Reception – an exclusive opportunity to network with NREF leadership, Cushing Circle of Giving members and other industry VIPs during the AANS Annual Scientific Meeting.
Most importantly, a donation to the NREF has a direct impact on young neurosurgeons. Your support makes it possible to continue funding cutting-edge courses and merit-based grants and fellowships.
Since its inception, the NREF has invested more than $20 million in the future of young neurosurgeons by funding educational courses, research grants and awards that enhance and supplement neurosurgical residency programs. And we know these programs make a difference in a neurosurgeon’s career trajectory.
Earlier this year, the 2018 Rhoton Young Clinician Investigator Award for Neuroanatomical Research was awarded to Maria Peris-Celda, MD, PhD, a former fellow of Professor Rhoton (2011-13). The $40,000 award is funding a new dissection laboratory at the Neuroscience Institute at Albany Medical College in Albany, N.Y., where Dr. Alan Boulos will serve as the faculty sponsor of her research.
According to Dr. Peris-Celda, “This emerging laboratory in Albany, NY aims to follow the same principles of Prof. Rhoton. As part of the neurosurgical community – and especially as a former fellow of Prof. Rhoton – I am committed to continuing his legacy. My main objective is to keep his philosophy and teaching alive through new research and by adding new material to the Rhoton Collection®.”
Payment plans are available. Donations can be a one-time contribution, regular monthly or annual installments, or as part of a tiered plan during the course of your residency. For example, a $500 donation equates to less than $10 per month over five years. All donations apply toward eventual membership in the NREF’s premier recognition society, the Cushing Circle of Giving.
