Dr. Haid is on the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) Board of Directors, as well as the Neurosurgery Research & Education Foundation (NREF) and the Lumbar Spine Research Society. Dr. Haid is also an active member and leader within several professional neurosurgical and spinal societies, including the AANS, Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), Neurosurgical Society of America (NSA) and the Cervical Spine Research Society (CSRS).
The new NREF is vital to maintain and grow our independence as physicians. Contributors to the NREF now have the choice to selectively donate to their areas of interest. My personal contributions are focused on clinical outcomes in spinal surgery. Our goal is to enhance accessibility for our patients to receive the optimal treatment. Neither insurance companies nor the government should dictate whom we operate on or how we can elect to treat our patients. Only by providing value with effective comparisons in outcomes and costs will neurosurgeons be able to direct our patients' care.
